Professors at MIT work with student research
assistants to collect materials for classroom archives. The age
of convergent media is reflected in the wide spectrum of educational
sources used-- including books, manuscripts, audio tapes, videos,
Cdroms, DVDs and the internet.

Research
Metamedia currently has a number of exciting projects
in progress. This
semester, we've been working on: an online archive in collaboration
with
the Beijing Film Academy; a multi-dimensional performance archive
with the
Royal Shakespeare Company, in the U.K.; a database of comic strips
from
the early part of the century for a course on graphic narrative
and
storytelling; and an extension of last year's project on Herman
Melville
and Toni Morrison, now expanded and redubbed the American Authors
Project.
